Trial of Sean "Diddy" Combs: Former Assistant Testifies
By MICHAEL R. SISAK and LARRY NEUMEISTER
NEW YORK (AP) — In the ongoing sex trafficking trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs, Brendan Paul, a former Syracuse University basketball player and personal assistant to the music mogul, testified that Combs displayed “extremely creative” behavior while under the influence of drugs. Paul, who was arrested in 2024 with cocaine he claims belonged to Combs, provided details of his experiences working for the rapper over 18 months, speaking under immunity.
Prosecutors allege that Combs led a two-decade racketeering operation that demanded unwavering loyalty from employees, including purchasing drugs. Defense attorneys, while acknowledging evidence of domestic violence, maintain that Combs has not committed federal crimes.
Paul recounted buying drugs for Combs multiple times, including cocaine and ecstasy, and only trying drugs himself once to prove his loyalty. He described a moment of panic upon realizing he had forgotten about cocaine in his travel bag at the airport.
As the prosecution nears the conclusion of its case, with more witnesses including Kid Cudi and even Kanye West, the defense is set to begin its presentation next week. Combs remains in custody without bail after pleading not guilty.
