CITY SECTION BASEBALL PLAYOFFS: TUESDAY RESULTS & WEDNESDAY SCHEDULE
The City Section baseball playoffs kicked off with intense matchups on Tuesday. In Division I, #16 LACES triumphed over #17 Franklin with a score of 5-1. Other notable victories included #12 Legacy defeating #21 North Hollywood (6-3), and #20 Hamilton outpacing #13 South East (7-3). #14 Roosevelt and #15 South Gate also secured wins against #19 Marshall (6-3) and #18 Wilson (7-6) respectively.
In Division II, #16 Fremont edged out #17 Eagle Rock in a nail-biter, winning 7-6. #13 Reseda shut out #20 Sun Valley Magnet 2-0, while #14 Harbor Teacher had a commanding performance against #19 Stella (17-7). #15 SOCES also progressed with an 11-8 win over #18 Arleta.
Division III saw #16 Lakeview Charter dominate #17 Rise Kohyang (11-1) and #20 Lincoln overwhelm #13 Jordan (19-2). Additionally, #19 Fulton outscored #14 Locke (14-7) and #15 Downtown Magnets triumphed over #18 Middle College (14-5).
As the playoffs continue, Wednesday’s schedule features critical quarterfinal matchups in the Open Division, with #8 Chatsworth facing #1 Venice and #5 Sylmar taking on #4 Cleveland, among other games starting at 3 p.m. on Thursday.
The road to the finals remains competitive with key semifinal and final games scheduled next week at various locations, leading to an exciting conclusion at Dodger Stadium on Saturday, May 24.
