Turnium Technology Group Partners with Seafarer Connect to Enhance Connectivity for Seafarers
Vancouver, Canada—May 7, 2025—Turnium Technology Group Inc. (TSXV: TTGI), a leader in Technology-as-a-Service (TaaS), has announced a new C$77,000 contract with Seafarer Connect, aiming to bolster communication connections for international seafarers over the next two years. This agreement, part of an established partnership with Turnium’s subsidiary, Claratti, will deploy the CrewMate Lite, a third-generation, portable Internet device designed specifically for maritime use.
Weighing just over 3.5 kg, the CrewMate Lite provides high-performance Internet access comparable to previous models but at a third of the weight, making it significantly easier to transport and set up aboard ships. Robert Coombs, Managing Director of the Tas Bull Seafarers Foundation, emphasized the importance of reliable connectivity in challenging maritime conditions, highlighting the role of Turnium and Claratti in supporting the welfare of vulnerable workers in the global supply chain.
Doug Childress, CEO of Turnium Technology Group, praised the partnership’s impact since its inception in 2022, stating, "Our mission is to develop IT and communication solutions that address complex business challenges. The CrewMate Lite services will enable us to provide flexible and cost-effective options for Seafarer Connect."
This collaboration has proven essential, particularly during the isolation challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, where connectivity helped maintain seafarers’ mental health. Seafarer Connect, a not-for-profit initiative, aims to deliver free, high-quality Wi-Fi to seafarers visiting Australian ports, addressing the humanitarian crisis of isolation at sea.
