Dodgers Fall to Marlins in Extra Innings After Bullpen Struggles

MIAMI — The Los Angeles Dodgers faced a tough challenge on Tuesday night, losing 5-4 to the Miami Marlins in 10 innings, showcasing the strain on their bullpen. This marked the third consecutive day that the Dodgers relied heavily on their relief pitchers, with manager Dave Roberts using seven relievers on Monday and five more on Tuesday.

The game turned in favor of the Marlins when J.P. Feyereisen, recently called up from Triple-A, gave up an RBI single to Jesus Sanchez in the 10th to seal the victory. Despite a solid performance from Tony Gonsolin, who pitched five scoreless innings, Roberts limited his outing to 82 pitches to preserve him.

Freddie Freeman had a standout game, driving in the Dodgers’ first run and later hitting a solo home run—his 42nd against the Marlins, the most by any player in franchise history. Meanwhile, Shohei Ohtani also contributed significantly, hitting his 10th homer of the season.

The Dodgers’ bullpen struggles were evident as Luis Garcia allowed two runs, cementing the defeat. The team will aim to bounce back with a "bullpen game" scheduled for Wednesday.
