Ducks Set to Select 10th Overall in NHL Draft First Round – Daily News

Ducks Secure 10th Overall Pick in Upcoming NHL Draft

The Anaheim Ducks will select 10th overall in the NHL draft, set to take place on June 27-28 at L.A. Live’s Peacock Theater. Despite finishing with the eighth-worst record in the league, the Ducks slipped back two spots due to the New York Islanders clinching the first pick in the draft lottery.

General Manager Pat Verbeek expressed disappointment at the lottery results but remains optimistic about the depth of talent available in the top 10. “We believe there is a strong group of players available, and we’ll add an exciting young player to our already impressive roster,” he stated. This marks the seventh consecutive year the Ducks have picked in the top 10, extending their playoff drought to the third longest in the league, behind Detroit and Buffalo.

Throughout their 31-year history, the Ducks have made 17 top-10 selections, notably choosing Paul Kariya fourth overall in their inaugural draft in 1993. In the upcoming draft, the Ducks hold nine picks, including one in each round and additional selections in the third and fifth rounds. Meanwhile, the Islanders and San Jose Sharks will pick first and second, respectively.
