Disneyland Honors First Responders with Heroes Salute Cavalcade

Disneyland celebrated the bravery of first responders who fought the devastating wildfires in Pacific Palisades and Altadena during a special Heroes Salute Cavalcade on May 5. This event marked the commencement of the park’s Heroes Ticket offer, providing complimentary tickets to those on the frontline of the January fires.

Los Angeles Fire Department’s Adam VanGerpen, who spent 28 days in the aftermath of the fires, highlighted Disneyland’s support for both responders and their families. He, alongside his brother Ian, participated in the parade from a Disneyland fire truck, waving to thousands of cheering fans, including iconic Disney characters.

The cavalcade featured first responders from local fire and police departments, with displays of gratitude from the Disneyland Fire Department members, including father-son duo Mark and Dave McLean. Mark had dedicated 23 days to battling the blazes.

Disneyland’s Heroes Ticket initiative offers two free Park Hopper tickets to eligible first responders through August 7 and will contribute $25 to the American Red Cross for every LA Strong t-shirt sold. The Walt Disney Company has also donated $15 million to aid fire relief efforts, exemplifying their commitment to supporting the community.
