High Surf Advisory Issued for Los Angeles County Beaches
Los Angeles, CA – The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a high surf advisory for Los Angeles County Beaches, which will be in effect until 9 a.m. on Monday. The advisory warns of large breaking waves ranging from 4 to 7 feet, accompanied by dangerous rip currents.
NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard emphasizes the heightened risk of ocean drowning during these conditions. Rip currents can swiftly pull swimmers and surfers out to sea, while large waves pose risks of injury and may sweep individuals off beaches and rocks, as well as capsize small boats near shore.
Beachgoers are strongly advised to stay out of the water and to remain near occupied lifeguard towers for safety. The advisory also cautions against approaching rock jetties, which can be particularly hazardous in these conditions.
