Baryo HiFi Festival Unites Thousands in Celebration of Filipino Culture
Los Angeles, CA – May 5, 2025: Over the weekend, the Baryo HiFi community festival drew thousands to Beverly Boulevard in Historic Filipinotown, highlighting Filipino American pride and creativity. Now in its second year, the family-friendly festival featured an array of Filipino-owned businesses, local vendors, and traditional cuisine, alongside cultural workshops in Unidad Park.
Musical highlights included performances from renowned Filipino artists like Pops Fernandez, P-Lo, and Kiana V, captivating the crowd with vibrant shows. Organizers emphasized the festival’s importance as a means of healing and unity in the wake of a tragic event at a Filipino heritage festival in Vancouver.
New this year was Nike’s art exhibit, "Working Overtime," showcasing Filipino artistry within the context of basketball. Festival organizer Stephanie Ramos explained the need for visibility in a community often working in the background. Her co-organizer, Miles Canares, underscored the grassroots nature of the event, asserting, “This isn’t a corporate event — it’s a movement built by and for the community.”
The Baryo HiFi festival not only celebrated Filipino culture but also served as a vital platform for connection and resilience, uniting a diverse community in shared pride and remembrance.
