Small Plane Crashes into Homes in Simi Valley: One Fatality Confirmed
Simi Valley, CA – A small aircraft crashed into two residential homes on High Meadows Street Saturday afternoon, prompting a swift response from emergency services. While residents evacuated safely, authorities believe that one occupant on the plane has died.
The incident occurred shortly before 2 p.m. when witnesses reported seeing the plane flying at a low altitude and erratically over Wood Ranch Parkway before the crash. One resident described the moments leading up to the crash, noting that a mere two minutes elapsed from his sighting of the plane to the sound of the impact.
The Ventura County Fire Department (VCFD) confirmed that about 40 firefighters were deployed to the scene, successfully extinguishing the resulting fire and conducting cleanup efforts. In a social media update, VCFD reported that no injuries were reported among the residents of the damaged homes.
“Preliminary reports indicate one fatality in the aircraft,” the VCFD stated. Footage released by ABC7 displayed firefighters on the devastated roof of one home, while the yard below was littered with debris and uprooted trees.
