Cold Weekend Weather and Possible Rain Forecasted for Southern California – Daily News

Significant Cooldown Expected This Weekend in Southern California

Southern California is bracing for a notable cooldown this weekend as a late-season storm moves into the region. Beginning Friday, temperatures are projected to drop about 10 degrees below average, with Los Angeles County experiencing highs typically in the mid-70s plunging to the mid-60s by Sunday. Mountain and desert areas may see even starker declines, with temperatures falling by up to 30 degrees.

National Weather Service meteorologist Dr. Robbie Munroe warns that widespread wind gusts of 30 to 50 mph will exacerbate the chill, making the weekend feel colder. A slight chance of thunderstorms looms, with a 10 percent probability in Los Angeles County, and a 20 percent chance of light showers bringing up to a quarter-inch of rain in mountainous regions.

In addition, a flood advisory has been issued for northern Ventura County and parts of northwest LA County, cautioning against debris flows from recent burn scars. While Friday will see highs from the upper 60s to lower 80s, temperatures are set to cool significantly over the weekend, particularly into Monday. The Inland Empire may peak at 80 on Friday before also dipping into the mid-60s, with moderate wind gusts expected across the area.
