Ben Casparius Eyes Starting Role for Dodgers
LOS ANGELES — Ben Casparius, a versatile arm in the Dodgers’ bullpen, is poised to transition into a potential starting role. As the team embarks on a nine-game road trip to Atlanta, Miami, and Arizona, manager Dave Roberts hinted at the possibility of a bullpen game.
Previously a starter in the minors, Casparius made a name for himself with impressive performances, including a strong playoff showing with a 1.42 ERA over 6⅓ innings. This season, he has continued to excel, recently contributing 3⅔ scoreless innings against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
While not yet confirmed for a starting role, Casparius is ready for any opportunity, stating, “I think just being flexible in that role is key.” He has maintained a remarkable 0.82 ERA over his last 10⅓ innings.
In other updates, right-hander Michael Kopech is set to face live hitters as he recovers from a forearm strain, and Clayton Kershaw’s rescheduled rehab start is set for Wednesday. Tyler Glasnow, sidelined with shoulder tendinitis, will miss the upcoming road trip.
The Dodgers will face the Braves this Friday, featuring RHP Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound.
