California Football Unveils Home Game Themes for 2025 Season
BERKELEY – Cal Athletics has announced an exciting lineup of themes for the California football program’s home games during the 2025 season, scheduled to begin this September. Fans can look forward to a season rich in celebration, honoring diverse groups and important causes throughout the community.
The home game festivities will kick off on September 6 against Texas Southern with a Black Culture Appreciation theme that underscores UC Berkeley’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, amplifying the voices of the Black community.
On September 13, the matchup against Minnesota will feature Educator Appreciation Day/Youth Sports Day/Reading Challenge, spotlighting local educators and the vital role of youth sports in the Bay Area while recognizing participants in this year’s summer reading initiative.
October 4 will witness the celebration of Alumni & Parents Weekend at Homecoming during the game against Duke, encouraging attendees to forge new traditions and strengthen ties within the UC Berkeley community.
The following game on October 17 against North Carolina will celebrate Bay Area Appreciation night, honoring the region’s culture, arts, and newly inducted members of the Cal Athletics Hall of Fame. This event will close with a spectacular drone and light show.
On November 1, fans will gather for Asian American and Pacific Islander Appreciation against Virginia, highlighting the contributions of AAPI communities to the football program and the broader region.
The season wraps up on November 29 with a Hometown Heroes theme against SMU, honoring first responders, military personnel, and frontline community heroes.
