Sylmar High School reignited its chances for the Valley Mission League baseball title on Monday, defeating Sun Valley Poly 2-0 and handing Poly its first loss of the season. With this victory, Sylmar improved its league record to 8-1, while Poly now stands at 9-1. Key players for Sylmar included Alex Martinez, who dominated on the mound with nine strikeouts, and Luis Mendoza, who contributed to the score with a decisive two-run home run.
