Sylmar High School reignited its chances for the Valley Mission League baseball title on Monday, defeating Sun Valley Poly 2-0 and handing Poly its first loss of the season. With this victory, Sylmar improved its league record to 8-1, while Poly now stands at 9-1. Key players for Sylmar included Alex Martinez, who dominated on the mound with nine strikeouts, and Luis Mendoza, who contributed to the score with a decisive two-run home run. Sophomore Tim Sepulveda showcased his skills at the plate, collecting three hits throughout the game.

In other noteworthy results, Vista Murrieta defeated Murrieta Mesa 9-4, with Jaylen Adams shining through with two hits and two RBIs. Lastly, San Clemente secured the league championship with a 2-0 win against El Toro, backed by a strong outing from Stanford commit Mike Erspamer, who struck out ten batters.
