NFL Draft: Rams Select Oregon Tight End Terrance Ferguson at Pick No. 46

Rams Select Oregon Tight End Terrance Ferguson in Draft, Inspire First Responders

In a pivotal move during the NFL draft, the Los Angeles Rams selected Oregon tight end Terrance Ferguson with the 46th overall pick in the second round. This decision comes after the team traded their first-round pick and acquired the new selection, along with a seventh-round pick and a 2026 first-round pick, from the Atlanta Falcons. Ferguson is expected to enhance the tight end position group, which currently includes veterans Tyler Higbee, Colby Parkinson, and Davis Allen.

Despite entering the draft without a second-round pick, the Rams are still positioned to make significant additions, holding three picks in the sixth round and one in the seventh.

On the same day, Rams head coach Sean McVay delivered an inspiring speech to approximately 150 first responders at the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Air Operations headquarters in Van Nuys. These first responders played crucial roles in emergency operations during the Palisades and Eaton fires in January. Joined by team president Kevin Demoff, McVay addressed firefighters and law enforcement personnel from Los Angeles and Ventura counties, acknowledging their heroism and dedication.

Several Rams players, including quarterback Matthew Stafford and tight end Tyler Higbee, interacted with the first responders, posing for photos and expressing their admiration. Running back Blake Corum emphasized the significance of the event, praising McVay’s inspirational words.

LAFD Captain Erik Scott commended the Rams for their community outreach efforts, highlighting the importance of leadership both on and off the field. “To see true leaders in other arenas inspire a group like this was really impressive,” Scott noted. This blend of sports and community engagement underscores the Rams’ commitment to making a positive impact beyond the game.
