Zach Neto is nearing his return to the Angels after completing back-to-back games with Triple-A Salt Lake. The Angels have not confirmed when he will be activated, but manager Ron Washington expressed excitement about his imminent return. Neto underwent shoulder surgery in November and has been playing in the minor leagues since late March. His rehab assignment is set to end after Sunday’s game, having hit .286 with four home runs in 13 games at Triple-A.
In other news, Torii Hunter has been monitoring Mike Trout’s adjustment to right field and Jo Adell’s play in center field. Both players have shown progress, but there is still room for improvement. The Angels signed veteran pitcher Hector Neris to a minor-league deal, while third baseman Yoán Moncada continues to recover from a sprained thumb. The Angels are still deciding whether Moncada will require a rehab assignment before returning to the lineup.
The Angels will face the San Francisco Giants on Friday night, with Logan Webb starting for the Giants and Tyler Anderson for the Angels.
