Jobapalooza Festival Replaces Children’s Book Party – San Diego Union-Tribune


The Carlsbad Garden Club is hosting an Earth Day plant sale on April 26th at Plaza Paseo Real in Carlsbad, featuring a variety of potted flowers, succulents, and other plant varieties. The proceeds from the sale will support Carlsbad schools’ garden programs and student scholarships. In addition, the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch are currently in peak bloom, offering 55 acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus along with an exhibit by artist Alex Heveri featuring glass and steel sculptures of insects and butterflies.

On the genealogy front, the North San Diego Genealogical Society will hold a free seminar on April 26th virtually via Zoom, focusing on various research journeys. Local genealogy buffs will also gather on April 22nd in Carlsbad to learn more about creating a locality guide.

In Chula Vista, the 28th semi-annual National Prescription Drug Take Back Day will be held on April 26th at the John Lippitt Public Works Center, offering a safe disposal option for unwanted prescription drugs. In El Cajon, the Olaf Wieghorst Museum will celebrate “Olaf Wieghorst Day” on April 30th with a special event.

Other events in the San Diego County area include a community pancake breakfast in Del Dios, an Open House fundraiser by the Assistance League Inland North County, a book sale at the Friends of the Escondido Library bookstore, and the 99th annual Wildflower Show hosted by the Julian Woman’s Club. The La Jolla Concours d’Elegance, a car show featuring classic cars, will run from April 25th to 27th.

Various events in La Mesa, Lemon Grove, Oceanside, Point Loma, Poway, Ramona, Rancho Bernardo, Santee, Spring Valley, and Vista will also be taking place, including a children’s book party in San Diego, the Arc of San Diego Gala, and the annual MuchaCultural Earth Day celebration at the WorldBeat Cultural Center. Earth Day events, job fairs, gardening shows, and community cleanups are among the many activities available throughout the region.
