Three people died in a boat crash on Lewis Smith Lake in Alabama during a fishing tournament. The crash occurred when a Nitro Bass Boat struck a Center Console boat at 7:03 a.m. on the second day of the Tackle Warehouse Invitational. The victims were identified as Joey M. Broom, John K. Clark, and Jeffrey C. Little, who were all on the Center Console boat. Clark and Little were thrown overboard and drowned, while Broom died from injuries sustained in the crash. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is still investigating the incident.
Major League Fishing, the organization hosting the tournament, expressed their condolences and canceled the third day of the competition in response to the tragedy. Kathy Fennel, the MLF’s executive vice president and general manager, described the incident as heartbreaking for the organization.
