Man charged with arson at New Mexico Tesla dealership and GOP headquarters by Justice Department

Jamison R. Wagner, 40, has been charged with federal arson for vandalizing a Tesla dealership in New Mexico and setting fire to the headquarters of the state Republican Party. The incident at the Tesla showroom in February involved two Model Y vehicles being set ablaze, alongside graffiti targeting CEO Elon Musk. Wagner is also connected to a fire at the New Mexico Republican Party headquarters.

The arrest is part of a federal crackdown on domestic terrorism targeting properties associated with Musk’s electric car company. Wagner was found in possession of incendiary devices, spray paint, and a stencil with a message linking ICE to the KKK. The FBI has created a task force to investigate similar attacks on Tesla cars and fire stations.

Attorney General Pam Bondi has emphasized the government’s commitment to prosecuting those involved in these attacks, stating that there will be no plea deals made. Wagner’s attorney has not yet commented on the charges.

The incidents highlight tensions surrounding the Tesla brand and Elon Musk’s political affiliations. The Justice Department is taking a firm stance against these acts of vandalism and arson, working in coordination with other law enforcement agencies to address the issue.
