Today marks the final day of the 50th anniversary Grand Prix of Long Beach – Daily News

Long Beach, CA – The Grand Prix of Long Beach’s golden anniversary celebration is drawing to a close with the highly anticipated titular race set for this afternoon. Thousands of fans flooded the concourse as gates opened at 7:30 a.m., gearing up for a day filled with IndyCar warm-ups and racing action.

Spanish driver Alex Palou is aiming for a hat trick win this season, having already claimed victory at the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg and the Thermal Club IndyCar Grand Prix. Despite being the two-time defending IndyCar Series champion, Palou has yet to win at Long Beach, with a third-place finish last year.

The 90-lap race will pay tribute to the first responders and firefighters who battled the L.A. wildfires in January, with a special parade lap featuring 27 first responders and IndyCar drivers. Other events on the schedule include the Historic Formula exhibition, GT America Race, and the Mothers Exotic Car Parade.

Off the track, fans can enjoy the Lifestyle Expo, Food Truck Village, Family Fun Zone, and much more on the final day of the Grand Prix. Don’t miss out on the excitement as the Grand Prix of Long Beach celebrates its 50th anniversary.
