Katy Perry is set to join a group of five other women on a historic spaceflight with Blue Origin, owned by Jeff Bezos. The all-female crew will lift off on Monday and reach the edge of space before descending back down to Earth. This flight will mark the first female-only crew since 1963 when Valentina Tereshkova became the first woman in space. The 10-minute joyride will take the passengers just above the Kármán line, experiencing weightlessness before landing in the Texas desert. Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket has previously flown high-profile passengers such as William Shatner and Michael Strahan. Although the cost of a ticket is expected to be expensive, it was not disclosed how much the celebrity passengers paid for the experience. This flight will be Blue Origin’s 11th launch with a human crew, showcasing the company’s advancements in space tourism.
