Groundbreaking Ceremony for The Broad Museum’s $100 Million Expansion Project in Downtown LA – Daily News

The Broad museum in downtown Los Angeles celebrated the groundbreaking of a $100 million expansion project that is set to open before the 2028 Summer Olympics. The new building, designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro, will be attached to the existing museum and will feature a “veil and vault” concept, providing more gallery space and access to art storage areas.

The project aims to expand the museum’s mission of reaching a wider audience while reinforcing the importance of art as a resource for everyone. The expansion will also include an outdoor plaza named in honor of L.A. County Supervisor Hilda Solis.

The event was attended by elected officials, including Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez, as well as Hollywood stars and cultural leaders. The museum’s leading partner, East West Bank, made a commitment to continue supporting the museum’s programs through 2037.

The expansion of The Broad museum highlights Los Angeles as an international hub for arts and culture and aims to enhance the Grand Avenue arts corridor, increasing visibility and vitality in the community. The project marks an exciting milestone as The Broad celebrates its 10th anniversary and continues to welcome close to a million visitors annually.
