Visitors can now enjoy horseback riding on Catalina Island after years of absence – Daily News

After an absence of over a decade, public horseback riding has returned to Catalina Island, a tradition dating back to the 1930s when the Wrigley family introduced horses to the island. Catalina Island Horseback Adventures, founded by Jeff Skelton, now offers rides through the island’s scenic trails, rolling hills, and even a golf course. Skelton, who had been riding on the island with a private group for years, saw the opportunity to open his own horse rental business after realizing the special connection between humans and horses.

The company offers two rides starting with a trek through an 18-hole golf course, followed by views of cliffs, wildlife, and the city below. Skelton emphasizes the unique experience of exploring Catalina Island on horseback, calling it a “special place and a special experience.” Visitors, aged 9 and older, can now enjoy this experience with rides available daily. The cost ranges from $149-$179 per person. For more information, visit catalinahorseback.com.
