Earthquake with a magnitude of 3.2 recorded near the coast of Rancho Palos Verdes

A magnitude 3.2 earthquake was reported in Los Angeles County on Sunday night, located 22 miles off the coast of Rancho Palos Verdes. The earthquake occurred around 8:27 p.m. and was felt at a low intensity in LA County areas including on and near the coast and inland in Lakewood. No damage was reported as earthquakes generally don’t cause damage below magnitude 4.0. The U.S. Geological Survey’s Did You Feel It? app received reports from people who felt the quake. This earthquake comes on the heels of other recent seismic activity in the region, including a 3.9 earthquake near Malibu and a 4.1-magnitude earthquake in the area. As seismic activity continues in Southern California, residents are urged to be prepared and aware of the potential for more earthquakes in the future.
