High surf advisory in effect for Los Angeles County beaches until Saturday midday – Daily News

The National Weather Service has issued an updated high surf advisory for Catalina/Santa Barbara Islands, Malibu, and Los Angeles County Beaches until Saturday, March 29 at 11 a.m. The advisory warns of large breaking waves of 6 to 9 feet with sets up to 10 feet and dangerous rip currents. The NWS cautions against the increased risk of ocean drowning, as rip currents can pull swimmers out to sea and large waves can cause injury or capsize small boats near shore. They advise people to stay out of the water or near occupied lifeguard towers and to avoid rock jetties. The high surf conditions are expected to continue until Saturday morning. Beachgoers are urged to exercise caution and heed the warnings to ensure their safety.
