Water polo star Lucca van der Woude, 17, continues to compete and teach despite a recent incident in juvenile court. In November, he admitted to the offense of sexual penetration with a foreign object against a minor, not aggravated sexual battery as previously reported. As part of a plea agreement, one of two charges was dropped and the remaining charge will be dismissed if he fulfills probation terms. The court also did not set an amount for restitution or issue a restitution order as previously stated. Additionally, a reference to an incident in the Harvard-Westlake locker room against Player Z was not committed by van der Woude. His attorney declined to comment on the case citing confidentiality concerns. Despite these legal issues, van der Woude is still actively involved in water polo and teaching.
