Alex Jones-linked company refutes The Onion’s acquisition of Infowars

A company connected to conspiracy theorist Alex Jones disputed the sale of the Infowars website to The Onion, calling it unfair and collusive. First United American Cos., which runs Jones’ online store, filed an emergency motion to challenge The Onion’s winning bid, claiming collusion with families who won legal judgments against Jones. The filing alleged that The Onion’s bid was lower than FUAC’s bid and included a waiver from the Connecticut families, which FUAC deemed improper. The bankruptcy trustee overseeing Jones’ estate rebutted the claims, calling them baseless and an attempt to influence the auction process. Jones accused The Onion’s purchase of Infowars as fraudulent and claimed support from Elon Musk and Donald Trump. The sale of Infowars assets will benefit creditors, including the families of Sandy Hook shooting victims. The Onion plans to relaunch Infowars as a parody site with humor writers and content creators. The legal dispute will be further addressed at a hearing on Nov. 25.
