Dodgers do not include top reliever Evan Phillips in World Series roster

The Dodgers bullpen saw some changes ahead of the World Series, with the return of Alex Vesia and Brusdar Graterol and the exclusion of Evan Phillips due to shoulder fatigue. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts expressed disappointment at not having Phillips available but welcomed the addition of Vesia and Graterol to the roster. Phillips led the Dodgers in saves this season but was unable to participate in the World Series due to his shoulder issues.

Dodgers president Andrew Friedman explained that the decision to leave Phillips off the roster was due to MLB rules regarding injury replacements. Despite Phillips’ absence, the team was bolstered by the return of Vesia and Graterol, who both faced hitters during workouts leading up to the series.

Additionally, shortstop Miguel Rojas returned to the active roster for the Dodgers, while outfielder Kevin Kiermaier was dropped. Rojas has been playing through a strained muscle and plans to undergo surgery in the offseason. Freeman, who had a week off to rest his injured ankle, is expected to be in a good place for the series.

Overall, the Dodgers have made adjustments to their bullpen and roster ahead of the World Series and are hoping for strong performances from their returning players. They are also looking to maintain Freeman’s health and performance throughout the series.
