The Roadrunners return to Westwood Elementary

Westwood Elementary welcomed nearly 840 students and their families at a “Welcome to Westwood” popsicle party hosted by the PTA on Aug. 20. The event, held the day before the start of the 2024-25 school year, allowed families to visit classrooms, tour the campus, purchase spirit gear, and learn about ways to get involved. New principal Bill Egan greeted families, including the Salameh and Ordway families, as well as students like James Schwanebeck and Greyson Perez who were eager for the school year to begin. The event also featured a book mobile in the library where families could purchase books and other items. Families like the Jayawardana, Na, Allgood, Gamboa, Kurowski, Salazar, and Gardner families enjoyed the festivities and had their photos taken in front of a Westwood Elementary banner. The Gardner family even included a sixth grader who attends Bernardo Heights Intermediate School. The event was a fun and informative way for students and families to kick off the school year and get to know their school community. Parents were encouraged to get involved through the PTA and other school activities, setting the stage for a successful and engaging school year ahead.
