Arrest Made in Fatal Shooting of Bronx Father Near His Home

John Gonzalez, 25, has been arrested and charged with fatally shooting Anthony “Wolfie” Gonzalez in the head during an argument on a Bronx street on July 11. The altercation took place on Gleason Ave. near St. Lawrence Ave. in Soundview. The two men, who are not related, were involved in the argument that turned deadly when John Gonzalez pulled out a gun and shot Anthony Gonzalez. Despite being rushed to Jacobi Medical Center, the victim, aged 35, could not be saved. Both men were residents of the neighborhood in which the shooting occurred. According to Anthony Gonzalez’s half-brother, Miguel Gonzalez, the victim was described as a gentle and great person who was a great uncle and father.

It was revealed that John Gonzalez has eight prior arrests, including for assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and aggravated harassment. Following an arraignment in Bronx Criminal Court, John Gonzalez was held without bail.
