Amy Robach considered ending her life after scandal, checked in on T.J Holmes

Former “GMA3” co-hosts Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes recently opened up about their struggles leading up to and following the revelation of their relationship in November 2022 on their “Amy & T.J.” podcast. Robach, 50, spoke emotionally about her desire to die after their relationship was publicly exposed, and the fear and panic she felt when Holmes struggled during the same time. Holmes, 46, detailed his struggles with alcohol and drugs during that period. The couple stated that they are now stronger and happier than ever, planning a life together after being suspended from their jobs, and denying that they cheated on their former spouses. The unfolding crisis led to them leaving their jobs at ABC. This podcast episode is the first time they have publicly discussed the scandal.

The couple acknowledged that Robach was still married to Andrew Shue at the time, and Holmes was married to Marilee Fiebig, although they insisted that their unions were over before they became a couple. Robach, a breast cancer survivor, opened up about the impact of the scandal, including feeling that she wanted to die and experiencing severe distress. The wide-ranging episode highlighted their emotional experiences, including Robach having to do a welfare check on Holmes.

The couple now wants to use their experience to spread awareness about mental health, including the importance of seeking help when needed. The episode was released on the anniversary of their job suspensions. Robach and Holmes emphasized that they are “in love” and “stronger and better” as a couple. They have not publicly discussed the scandal since it occurred, and plan to move on with their lives. If you or someone you know is struggling with similar issues, there are resources available to help, such as the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
